5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
James 1:2-3
2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
"Mom, I don't want to go to school. We are having another test."
Do you remember those days as a child?
We hated tests, especially if it was a surprise test, or a test we didn't study for that we knew was the next day.
Well, a trial is another word for test or testing.
In order to make it through school, you must be able to pass various tests. And if you don't, you will be held back.
And just as we didn't like test at school we don't like trials in our lives.
But as with passing the test in school there is a reward other then getting a grade, but also advancing to the next grade or higher level.
So it is with our trials, as we go through them and eventually pass them, so to speak, we also advance in our Christian walk. Going from babes in Jesus Christ to maturity.
1 Cor 3:1-2 1 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able;
Imagine only being able to drink milk for 30 or 40 years, never knowing the joys of a good steak or a hamburger from the barbecue.
That is what happens to us a Christians when we don't mature, but stay in the same place.
Milk is good for you and part of your daily diet. But as you grow you need more then just milk, you need solid food too.
But we continue on as little children, never maturing and only receiving the milk of God's word when He wants to feed us not only with milk, but also barbecued hamburgers and steak.
So if you are going through a trial, remember it's so you can grow and get off the milk and get into the meat of God's word.
