John 4:13-14
13 Jesus answered and said to her, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 "but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
Are you satisfied?
Are you content?
Do you strive for more?
Jesus said that, "Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,"
It seems we are never happy. We always want more.
I love to play games on my computer, but when I walk away from playing I still don't feel satisfied.
It's like taking a drink of water and still being thirsty.
I also use my computer to do this devotional and the bible studies. When I walk away after studying the bible on the computer. I feel full so to speak or content, not walking away feeling empty, or like I missed something.
And this is what Jesus is talking about when He said to drink and not thirst again.
We always seem to try and find fulfillment in the things of the world, even as Christians.
We seem to forget that all we really need is Jesus.
Commercials on TV, the radio and in magazines telling how much something will satisfy us or it's just the thing we need. And we listen to them.
But if you needed it so bad, how did you get along without it all these years?
In actuality, we really don't need anything being sold on TV or the radio.
All we really need we already have. It's just that we forget we have it.
And that's the peace of Jesus Christ.
John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
Think about it. If you get that brand new car, you will have higher car payments high insurance and sleepless nights wondering if someone is going to steal it.
But that's the so-called peace of the world.
But on the other hand, no one can separate you from the peace and love of God!
Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Now I'm not telling you to don't have nice things. But don't ever depend on them to bring you true happiness. Because you can only find that in Jesus Christ!
And if you drink of His living water, which is the Holy Spirit, you will never thirst again!
