John 6:15
Therefore when Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take Him by force to make Him king, He departed again to the mountain by Himself alone.
This verse speaks about what Jesus did after He feed 5000 with five loafs of bread and two fish.
The people were so thankful and overjoyed that they wanted to make Jesus king right then and there.
But Jesus knew their hearts,
John 6:26 Jesus answered them and said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
Jesus knew they wanted Him as king, not because He was the true king sent from heaven, but because their flesh was satisfied.
And if you think about it, this was probably a temptation for Jesus. Just as Satan did with Him in the wilderness.
Matt 4:8-10 8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." 10 Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, 'You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.' "
And what did Jesus do in this case after feeding the 5000?
He stopped and prayed. Seeking the Father for strength, wisdom and worshipping the true God.
Satan does this sort of thing with us today. He will take something that seems so right and we jump into it without even seeking the Lord, then later we find it wasn't the right decision.
So the next time you decide to make a quick decision, remember that Jesus stopped and asked God.
No question or decision is too small for God. He wants to be a part of your whole life. Not just what we think the big decisions or questions are, but also the little ones.
