Gen 17:3

Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:

"The big guy"
"The man upstairs"
"The big man"

How many of these have you heard others say concerning God?
Probably all of them, but what's even worse is that Christians use these terms as well.
So what's the big deal or the problem with these so called titled of God?
First off you don't find any of them in the bible.
Here in today's devotional verse this is speaking about Abram (Abraham) and God talking. Abram is 99 years old and God is about to tell him some great news and that is that Abram is going to be a daddy.
So what was Abram's response?
"Hey, way to go big guy."
Or did he go to his wife Sarai (Sarah) and say, "the big man upstairs just told me that we are going to have a kid."
Now how stupid does that sound when you read it? Pretty bad isn't it!
You see, Abraham had a respect for God and How He is.
So what has happened to that respect?
When you are in heaven will you walk up to Jesus and slap Him on the back and say, "Way to go big guy."
We are talking about the creator of the heavens and the earth, not some bar room buddy.

So next time you hear someone refer to God or even Jesus as one of these, stop them and remind them that He is GOD and that they need to show Him the respect that He deserves.

If not then they will in heaven.

Romans 14:11 For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God."

Not "the big guy" or "the man upstairs" but to GOD!!!
