with God

Zech 1:13

And the LORD answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words.

So many people see God as someone who is ready to pounce on them as soon as they do something wrong. They see God as angry and never loving.
There may be even some of you right now who are reading this and see God this way.

I admit that even sometimes when I mess up that I even look for God to pounce on me and let me have it big time, because I deserve it.

But we so often forget that God is the God of comfort.

  • 2 Cor 1:3-4 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

  • He's not ready to pounce on us and let us have it, even though we deserve it.

When I read today's devotional verse it reminded me of how kind and loving God is.
    Read it again.

And the LORD answered the angel who talked to me, with good and comforting words.

This is our God who loves His creation, which are the angels and us as well.

Think of a kid who messes up in a baseball game, he thinks his dad is going to let him have it for messing up. When he finally confronts his dad with his head hung low in humiliation, his dad will pick him up and hug him and give him words of comfort and encouragement.

You may have messed up and are too ashamed to come before the Lord.
But do it anyway, and let God pick you up and hug you and give you good and comforting words of encouragement to keep on keeping on.
