5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
2 Cor 4:16-18
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
As I read this today what came to mind is the place I work at.
Where I work, they manufacture things for people to help them look younger and feel better about themselves.
Actually they sell to peoples vanities.
We spend so much time on our outward appearance, when our inward appearance is falling apart.
We go to the mall and buy new clothes, makeup (for women), shoes, shampoos, conditioners, cologne, and perfume.
We go to the gym and workout for an hour or two, and then run for another hour. All to make our outward appearance look good.
But then God says to spend just 15 minutes with Him in His word, and we wig out thinking God is asking too much from us because we just don't have the time.
1 Peter 3:3-4 3 Do not let your adornment be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel-- 4 rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
This part of scripture is speaking to wives, but I think God is talking to us all. How do I know this?
Let's look at the Old Testament.
1 Sam 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
All the stuff we buy for our outward appearance is just a false covering of what's really inside.
God sees your insides, completely naked with no artificial stuff to hide any of it.
And you know what? He still loves you!
We are the bride of Christ, shouldn't we be preparing our inwards selves to look beautiful for Him when He comes to get His bride?
