Job 2:9 (NLT)

His wife said to him, "Are you still trying to maintain your integrity? Curse God and die."

Now this is a wife I wish I had, NOT!
But maybe you are a wife of someone who has been called into a ministry. Remember that a ministry is not always being a pastor, because there are several ministries talked about throughout the bible. Think of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, all of those gifts are a ministry.

  • 1 Cor 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:

  • So the question for you as a wife is, are you supporting your husband in what the Lord has called him to do, or are you putting him down, just like Job's wife was?

Maybe it's the opposite and maybe your wife has been called into a ministry, are you supporting her as well or do you act like a nagging old wife like Job's?

One more, maybe you are not married but you do know someone who has been called into a ministry, how are you supporting him or her?

So why should you support them? First off because God has called them, whether you accept it or not. Should your spouse be more obedient to you then to God?
Second is that God will bless your spouse and you will also take part in those blessings.

  • Job 42:12-13 (NLT) 12 So the LORD blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. For now he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand teams of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys. 13 He also gave Job seven more sons and three more daughters.

  • It was tough for a while for Job, and it was tough for his wife as well. But as they stayed true to the Lord and His calling, everything worked out, and it will for you as well.
