Psalms 4:1-8 (NLT)
1 Answer me when I call, O God who declares me innocent. Take away my distress. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
2 How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make these groundless accusations? How long will you pursue lies? Interlude
3 You can be sure of this: The LORD has set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him.
4 Don't sin by letting anger gain control over you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude
5 Offer proper sacrifices, and trust in the LORD.
6 Many people say, "Who will show us better times?" Let the smile of your face shine on us, LORD.
7 You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and wine.
8 I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.
Sometimes it's hard to be a Christian. You may get afraid of others making fun of you for your belief in Jesus Christ.
And it's very possible they will. But if they knew the truth they wouldn't make fun of you.
Christians are stereotyped as good, bad guys.
Does that sound funny?
We are looked at as "goody two shoes" . They say we think that we are "holier then thou." But we are bad because we don't indulge in their fun.
But they just don't know the truth; we try to be good because the Lord has placed it in our hearts to be good. He's changed our way of thinking. Not so we can say we are better then others, but so that they can see the light of Jesus in us. Which is a difference from the darkness they are used to seeing.
Remember that no matter what you are going through, and how much they make fun of you, we have verse 8:
"I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe."
The Lord will give you the peace you need!
And He will always keep you safe!
