Luke 16:13
"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
Think about your most feared and hated enemy. I know we are not to have enemies, but think for a moment about the person who really doesn't like you. You know the type, they are the ones who would give anything to make you look bad, or cause you to mess up big time. They rejoice when you fail and are quick to pour salt into your wounds.
I know it's not a very enjoyable thing to do thinking about this person. But what if this person where to give you some advice about something important to you, like your family, or your job, or finances, would you listen to him or her?
No, why not?
"Well, because they would give me bad advice and I wouldn't be able to trust them because they would only be out to harm me."
Good observation, now the next question, why are you listening and following your most hated enemy, the devil? We know he only wants to destroy us, does not love us and rejoices every time we listen to him and fall. Yet we still listen to his advice and follow it, and when we do, then we do fall.
So it's time to stop listening to the advice you have been getting from the devil and run from it. Where or Who do you run to?
None other then Jesus Christ, who does love us, and will never ask us to do anything that would harm our family, friends or ourselves.
So look at today's devotional verse again and ask yourself, who is your master and who are you going to serve. Who will you love and who will you hate.
"No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."
Whoever you listen to is your master. You have a choice right now to either listen to your enemy, the devil, or your friend, JESUS.
John 10:10 "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
The choice is yours!
