5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
John 20:26
And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!"
Here it is, another Monday with the weekend over, and a whole five days of work ahead of us. What a way to start off a devotional for a Monday.
Doesn't sound very encouraging does it? But it gets better.
Reading today's devotional verse it says: And after eight days
After eight days from what?
Well, we have to back a few verses to find out.
John 20:19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."
Eight days prior to what is going on if verse 26 was what we know as Resurrection Sunday, or the day that Jesus rose from the dead. This is also the day that He showed Himself to the disciples. All but one, who was Thomas who was not there on that Sunday to witness Jesus' resurrection.
Now here it is eight days later, which would make it a Monday.
The disciple may have felt the same way you are right now about Monday, after all what good can happen on a Monday, other then it being over?
Well, what happened to Thomas on this Monday? He saw the risen Savior face to face.
"Yea, but that wont happen to me."
True, unless you died today or Jesus came back for His church on a Monday.
But you can see Jesus everyday in the bible. But there are those who have never met Jesus. They may be having one of those Monday blues types of days.
Well, you can brighten their Monday the same way Thomas' Monday was brightened.
Show them Jesus in your life.
Not preach to them, but show them Jesus who is compassionate towards others and helpful. Simply put, Jesus was a servant even though He should have been served.
So thinking about that, go out and be like Jesus today, and brighten someone's Monday with the love of Jesus.
Once you do, just like Thomas may have, you probably will find that you will start enjoying Mondays as well.
