5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
Acts 3:1
Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.
To understand what is going on here, you need to read the last verse in chapter 2.
Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
So the picture is that many were being saved everyday, and what were Peter and John doing?
"Well, they went to a home bible study once a week, to Wednesday night service, and then to church on Sunday morning. But the rest of the time they just stayed home and did the usual thing they were used to doing all their lives."
Wrong!
They didn't stick around the church all day, or even in their homes hiding out. They went out and told others about Jesus.
Not only that but part of their ministry was to minister to others. We see all of this as we read on in chapter 3.
Acts 3:2-7 2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple; 3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms. 4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, "Look at us." 5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them. 6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
So what are you doing with your walk with the Lord? Are you going to church and maybe even a home bible study? If you are then great, but there is more to being a Christian then just being at church. We need to get out and tell others about Jesus.
It could be at work or school, maybe the grocery store or even your neighbors.
Think about that for a minute. How long have you lived in your home? One, five, twenty years? Have you ever told your neighbors about Jesus?
When you are in heaven enjoying yourself and your neighbor is standing before God ready to be punished for not accepting Jesus, will they turn to you and say, "You lived next door to me for twenty years, and not once did you tell me about Jesus, why?"
Luke 10:36-37 36 "So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?" 37 And he said, "He who showed mercy on him." Then Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."
So get off your pew and Go and do likewise.
