1 John 4:20-21

20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

Do you spend time in God's word everyday or do you at least try to?
Do you spend time in prayer everyday?
Do you spend time praising God and singing out to Him in song.
Maybe these are things you enjoy doing each and everyday.
Now, if I mentioned a particular persons name, you know that person that makes you mad or upset, how would you feel? Not to good, would you.
But the thing is we spend time in God's word, and time in prayer and also time praising the Lord, then we turn around and hate someone.

Think of this, suppose you have a heart to go help those in need in another country. You see those pictures and videos of starving children and you want to go help them. Now you have never met nor seen these children or people, yet you sense a love for them and want to go help them.
Now what about a close friend, or even a spouse, or family member? Has one of them made you upset or angry? You have hatred and anger towards someone you see, possibly all the time, yet you have a compassion for those you have never even met that live thousands of miles away?

I think we need to read today's devotional verse again.

If someone says, "I love God," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?

You want to help those in need, yet you refuse to help someone you should be loving right there in your own home or family?
You say you love God yet you have anger or curse someone you are close to?

And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

I know this is a tough one for some of you, but through God's love and strength we can all do it!

Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
