5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
Phil 2:12
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
My wife left to go visit her mother for five days, along with the children. That left me here all by myself.
It was during the week, so I had to work, but what about when work was over, what did I do?
Well, I could have gone out and partied every night, or went bar hopping. I could have rented those movies that you aren't supposed to. I could have had a bunch of friends over for a beer drinking fest. I suppose if I really wanted to, I could have even cheated on my wife. After all, she was gone and so were the kids, so who would know?
Two would know, first I would know and more important God would know.
Remember Joseph back in the book of Genesis and how he as a young man had the opportunity to be with Potiphar's wife? No one was around and he could have gotten away with it. Do you remember what Joseph said?
Gen 39:9 "There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?"
When we sin, we don't think that God sees all and that we are sinning against God, but even as a teenager, Joseph knew this, and as adults we should all know this as well.
Me, I prefer not to sin against God, nor my family. So what did I do as a so-called bachelor for these five days?
Honestly, I spent a few days fasting and enjoying my time with the Lord.
When they got home, I felt good that I had nothing to hide or cover up or be ashamed of.
What about you, what do you do when others are not around or watching?
Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;
We are never alone, because God is always with us, therefore work out your own salvation with fear and trembling !
