Luke 16:14-15

14 Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him. 15 And He said to them, "You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For what is highly esteemed among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

Play the Lotto, go on reality TV, walk over everyone to get ahead, invest your money in stocks and homes and you will make out big time.
All sorts of things this world throws at us telling us how to gain financial freedom. The reason the world does this is because it thinks that having enough money will make you happy.
But as I was listening to a guest speaker at our church this morning, he said something I thought was pretty cool.
Think if it were one hundred years from now, where would you and all your stuff be?
For me, I would be 144 years old, and dead.
All the stuff I have would all be gone. Our cars would be in a junkyard, our home would be demolished so new and better homes could be built. All my clothes would be buried in the ground somewhere in a dump.
My computer and all my music equipment, if it were still around would be in a museum for the children of the future to laugh at.
My friends and family would be gone as well as my job.
So where has all this stuff gotten me? Nowhere!
But even though all this stuff and all the money I have made over the years will all be gone in a hundred years from now, one thing will always remain that I possess, and that is the word of God.

  • Matt 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

  • So you can be like the Pharisees who were lovers of money, and them with all their things are all gone.
Or you can be like Jesus and cling to the word of God, which will last forever.
