Prov 13:7

There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;
And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.

Whoever wants to be poor, raise your hand?
Now, whoever would like to be rich, raise your hand?
Now that you have raised your hands, read the devotional verse again.

There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing;
And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.

Will you change the answer to the above questions now?

"Well, I guess so, if you put it that way."

Money should not be our main focus in life; our focus is to minister to others, not to get rich or to even be well off financially.
Think of Jesus, who had nothing, yet He had everything.
Even today Jesus is the most loved person ever, and how much did He have? Zero dollars.
Sure, Jesus could have called out to God for a bunch of money, but He knew that money would not make Him happy nor would it really give to others what they really needed.
So why are we so quick to constantly think about money?
Because we want and think that God wants us to be well off financially and have nice things.
Sure, there are people in the bible who had a lot, like Solomon who was the richest man in the world, yet with all of his riches, he would have gladly given them up to start over again and not have all those wives who became a burden to him because they worshipped other gods.
But you could probably count the number of people in the bible who were well off financially on both your hands, and maybe even your feet.
But how many more had little or nothing. The bible does not teach that we are to be rich or well off, and if we are then we should share what we have with others.
So are you asking from God so you can have nice things and feel comfortable financially There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; or are you asking because you see the needs of those around you, and want so that you can give? And one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches.
