with God
Romans 12:9-10 (NLT)
9 Don't just pretend that you love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Stand on the side of the good. 10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other.
There are people that I just don't care too much for, and worse, these are brothers and sisters in the Lord.
So what do we do about it?
Be honest with God, you can't lie to Him anyway. Tell Him you just don't really like this person.
Then ask Him to give you the love for that person that He wants you to have.
Being false to a person is a sin, because in affect what you are doing is lying to that person.
Sometimes we just need to talk with that person and confess or sin towards them and ask their forgiveness.
It may be the start of a great friendship.
"I don't want a great friendship with this person" you may say.
You might want to think twice about that, because Jesus said that He is going to prepare a place for you, and not just you, but that other person also. And He just might be building your houses right next to each other in heaven where you are to spend eternity as neighbors.
Lev 19:18 (NLT) "Never seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.
Gal 5:14 (NLT) For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
James 2:8 (NLT) Yes indeed, it is good when you truly obey our Lord's royal command found in the Scriptures: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
"But you don't know what they said or what they have done" you may say. But the Lord does. And in the above verses there are no circumstances when we are not to love or neighbor or brothers or sisters.
What if God said that He didn't like something about you is that justification for Him to just forget about you?
Luke 6:32-33 32 "But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. 33 "And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.
This is a hard thing to swallow, like bad tasting medicine.
But we know, no matter how bad the medicine taste, because of it we will feel better and be healed.
