Luke 6:43
"For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit.
Have you ever wondered if a certain person is a Christian or not?
Maybe they don't say that they are; yet they seem to be good people who never cuss, or smoke, or drink, or even go to parties. You think that he or she is a nice person and that they must be Christian.
On the other hand you know of people who claim to be Christian, yet they don't act like one. They condone sex before marriage, they love to party, and are quick to tell the latest dirty joke. Yet they say, "I'm a Christian. I went up and prayed the prayer so I don't need to go to church."
So the question is, which one is the real Christian?
The answer, probably neither.
You see there are a lot of people who seem to live good lives, at least under our standards, and we think that they must be Christian. Yet if you ask them if they were Christian, they would say that they are not, and that they don't believe in Jesus.
The second person may have gotten caught up in the emotion of a service or crusade and went forward, but never had a true repentance in their life. These types of people are just looking for fire insurance, yet they still want to play with fire.
So, how do we know who is Christian and who is not?
First, simply ask them if they are. If they say they are not, then you know that it's true.
But, if they say that they are, then accept it, but also look at their life. Are they living a life of a Christian, or are they still living like the world?
Luke 6:43-46 43 "For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44 "For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. 45 "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. 46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say?
