with God

2 Peter 2:17-19 (NLT)

17 These people are as useless as dried-up springs of water or as clouds blown away by the wind--promising much and delivering nothing. They are doomed to blackest darkness. 18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With lustful desire as their bait, they lure back into sin those who have just escaped from such wicked living. 19 They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves to sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.

July 5th and most of us have the day off because the 4th of July came on a Sunday this year.
But as we celebrate our freedom here in the USA, the question is, are we really free?
I'm not talking about politics here or separation of church and state. I'm talking about real freedom that we all boast about here in the USA.
Sure, we are free to vote, free to say what we want, free to eat what we want, free to allow anyone no matter what color or religion to enter into out country and not be thrown out or persecuted. We are free to drink, free to drive, free to use God's name in vain and even do so in our movies and songs on the radio.
We are free all right, free to sin as much as we want, as long as we don't hurt anyone else.
With this freedom the USA promises us so many things: promising much and delivering nothing. They are doomed to blackest darkness.

With all this freedom, how many are going straight to hell because we don't want to offend anyone? How many of our children are exposed to hours of sin in videos games and TV and movies, total blatant sin that they can experience and enjoy anytime they want?
They offer us freedom and protection, but who will protect them and those who listen to them on judgment day?

They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves to sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.

You may be free here in the USA or any country. But are you really free or are you really a slave to the sin they protect?

I know this sounds political and it's not written with any politics in mind. We just need to stop as a nation and see what price our freedom is costing our children and ourselves.

I love the USA, as well as Israel and Australia and other countries, because God made the whole earth and it's His. But this is just a temporary home for us, because our real homes are being built by Jesus right now.

  • Heb 13:14 (NLT) For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our city in heaven, which is yet to come.

  • John 14:2-3 2 "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.

  • When we are finally home, then we will truly be free indeed from sin! AMEN!!!
