Phil 2:3-4 (NLT)
3 Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. 4 Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing.
ME, Me, me that is what the world teaches us today.
Have it Your way, YOU deserve a break today. Just do it, YOU deserve it.
I'm sure you could come up with a lot more. But this is opposite of what the bible teaches, and we see this in today's devotional.
What do you really have to have today? What if you didn't get it? Would the world come to an end? Would you be able to face tomorrow?
The world would continue and you would be able to face tomorrow.
Here is a challenge for you this week. Think of something you are planning on buying for yourself and don't buy it. But instead, take that money and buy something for someone else or give it to someone in need.
We all know after we buy something, after a while the fun of it goes away and it ends up in a closet or on your lawn at your next garage sale.
But if you give to someone else, you won't lose the joy of doing for someone else and the joy on their face.
Maybe you spend a lot of time reading or watching TV, why not stop it for just one day and spend that time with your wife or husband, or someone who really needs a friend or needs someone to talk to.
One more bit of advice, don't do any of this reluctantly but do it with joy showing the true love of Jesus.
After all he could have spent the day reading the Israeli Daily Journal or shopping, but instead He decided to spend the day giving to others. And what did He give?
Only His life!
