2 Peter 3:9 (NLT)

The Lord isn't really being slow about his promise to return, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.


The world is so corrupt; don't you wish the Lord would come back right now?
Most would say yes, including me.
But even though I am ready to leave this world and have Jesus come and take us all home, in a way I'm happy that He hasn't.

"OK Steve, you are losing it this time, I know you are."

No, think about this for a moment. Remember what Paul said:

  • Phil 1:23-24 23 For I am hard pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.


    • Paul was ready to go home to be with Jesus, his heart's desire was for Jesus to return and take all the Christians home to heaven.
    But Paul also knew that if Jesus did return at that time that hundreds of thousands would die in their sins. So even though Paul had this desire, he was willing to wait it out so that others would be in heaven also.
    That's the way we should all be.
    At the end of the book of Revelation, John writes:

  • Rev 22:20-21 20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming quickly." Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! 21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.


    • John saw God and Jesus in heaven. John was there with Them in heaven and he knew what an awesome place it was, and he was in agreement with Jesus that He should come quickly. But John also writes: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

    John knew that even though he also was ready for Jesus to return, that the grace of Jesus would have Him wait until that last person would accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

    No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to perish, so he is giving more time for everyone to repent.

    You or someone you know may be that last person.
    Please stop waiting, because we are all ready to go home to be with Jesus!
