1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
I have a 2 ½ year old little girl and a one year old little boy.
If you ever saw them and watched them for a while you would know that they are my wife's children, and mine because they act just like we do.
The little expressions they make on their faces. Things they like and don't like. Even the things they try to say. Not to mention that they look like both of us (they are blessed because they got their good looks from their mother).
But if you never met my wife or me and just saw my children you wouldn't know that they were our children. To you they would be just two other little babies in the world.
Think of today's devotional verse:
Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
The world rejects us, because they don't know our Father and Savior, God and Jesus.
If they knew Them, then they would accept us as well. But since they refuse to acknowledge Jesus as Lord, they refuse to listen to us talking about Him.
But then the question for today is how are you representing God and Jesus to others?
Is it in a way that they want to know Him because we demonstrate God's love to others?
Or do they refuse to listen because we portray God as judgmental and condemning by the way we treat others?
My babies are like my wife and me, and when they grow up I want them to be like us also, but only if we demonstrate God's love in our lives.
I want to be a reflection of Jesus Christ, which would also reflect in my children's life as well.
So what are you reflecting in your children's life, God or the world.
1 Cor 11:1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Can you say this to your children or your friends?
If not then maybe it's time for a change.
