Isaiah 31:1

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the LORD!

When you need some money, what do you do? Maybe get a second job, what about getting a loan at the bank, or borrowing it from friends or family. There are even places where to can get an advance on your paycheck, for a price.
How about marriage problems, what do you do? Seek a divorce; consult with your worldly friends, who encourage you to get a divorce? Maybe seek comfort in the opposite sex.
What about problems with you children? Do you send them to a shrink or counselor for help? Maybe you just try to ignore them and what they are doing or even buy them off with money of gifts to make them mind.

All sorts of life's problems that we can have. Maybe none of these are yours, but other problems in life have come up or are even happening to you right now. What do you do about it?
Most of the time, Christians will seek after the world's way of fixing things, after they do and things are worse, as a last resort they will cry out to God.
Read today's devotional verse again and think about your problems and how you are handling them.

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
And rely on horses,
Who trust in chariots because they are many,
And in horsemen because they are very strong,
But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel,
Nor seek the LORD!

Are you seeking answers from the world Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help or from God?

  • Psalms 121:1-2 1 I will lift up my eyes to the hills--
    From whence comes my help?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
    Who made heaven and earth.

  • I guess it depends if you really want good help and the right answers to your problems the first time or not.
