Isaiah 5:4

What more could have been done to My vineyard
That I have not done in it?
Why then, when I expected it to bring forth good grapes,
Did it bring forth wild grapes?

Excuse, excuses, excuses, so many people have so many excuses for not accepting the Lord.
But one day, when they are standing before the Lord (if they can stand before the awesomeness of God) they will have no excuses.
They will find that all their excuses were for nothing, and that they wasted their life away.
We hear of stories of people in different religions and cults that walk for miles on their knees, ripping them to shreds for a penance for their sins.
Are those who whip their own backs over and over thinking that they are paying the penalty for their sins.
All sorts of weird stories of what people do to themselves. But they will find out that their attempts were in vain, and all for nothing.
But God says that He has done everything He could to have people get into heaven.

What more could have been done to My vineyard
That I have not done in it?

But still people refuse the easy way and try their own way.
I live in California, and let's say I wanted to go to Israel (which I always have wanted to). So I take a space ship and fly straight up towards the sun. I would never make it to Israel, because I didn't follow the correct directions, and even worse is that in the end I would end up getting burned.
That's what people do when they try any way except through Jesus Christ to get to heaven. They end up going the opposite of where they should be, and in the end, they to will end up getting burned, literally and forever!
