Matt 16:26-28 (NLT)
26 And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process? Is anything worth more than your soul? 27 For I, the Son of Man, will come in the glory of my Father with his angels and will judge all people according to their deeds. 28 And I assure you that some of you standing here right now will not die before you see me, the Son of Man, coming in my Kingdom."
Have you ever thought about why you do what you do for the Lord?
Jesus said that He would judge according to the things we do.
We will all probably be surprised at what we are rewarded for or even more, not rewarded for things we have done.
I write this today because I am concerned about some Christians who seem to be making a profit off the Lord.
Now it's not that they are bad people, but more of they may have forgotten about their ministries from the Lord and the profit starts to blind them.
One is a painter who paints beautiful picture for the Lord and to minister to others. But this person has gone so public with it that this person has even been seen on TV selling his goods, and the paintings have been made into cups, tapestries, statues, screen savers etc.
This person seems to have lost site of what the Lord has given him to do, and that's minister to others, and not get rich off of God's blessing.
Another one is a recent musical group, that that has just taken off and is a top selling band.
Christians label this group as a Christian group, but I found out that they are not.
With their lyric's you would think that they are. Here are a few words from one of their songs.
I saw the will of a warrior
His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
I'll say I choose to live for always
So won't you come inside
And never go away
Now these words appear to be talking of Jesus, and they may be.
But I checked out their web site and they made it clear that they are not a Christian band, and they are searching but haven't found what they are looking for.
The name of this band is "Creed". And if you doubt me check it out for yourself at www.creednet.com and check out the FAQ.
I am pleased with their honesty, and I will be praying for them as they search out the truth, because I know that what they are searching for they will find. And that is Jesus.
But for us as Christians, we need to be careful at whom we label as a Christian, and how high we put other Christians on a pedestal.
We are guilty of glorifying Christians and not God.
God won't take away their rewards, but by glorifying them, we may cause them to seek the rewards of this world instead of Gods reward.
We should be glorifying God and Jesus instead of his servants.
All theses painters, musicians, preachers, teachers will all fade away. But the Lord will always be here and will not fade away.
Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
If we put as much effort into worshipping Jesus as we do other Christians the whole world would probably know about Him. But instead we tell them about these great musical groups, and teachers but we don't tell them about the true and awesome savior, Jesus Christ.
So next time you want to invite someone to church or a Christian concert, why don't you try inviting him or her to Jesus.
God can use you just as easy as a preacher or musical group.
All you need is a willing heart, and love for others.
If you love them enough to invite them to church, then you want them to be introduced to Jesus.
Remember that He is in you, and you don't have to take them any further then right were you are with them right at that time.
Mark 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
