Prov 30:12

There is a generation that is pure in its own eyes,
Yet is not washed from its filthiness.

"I'm ok, I don't smoke, or drink, or cuss."
"Hey, I never hurt anyone, so I'm a good person."
"At least I'm not like those people."

There are all sorts of things that people will say, trying to convince us, or even themselves that they are ok, and by their goodness they will get to heaven.
The problem is, whose standards are they measuring themselves against? It's usually their own, or maybe even what their parents taught them. But still the question we need to ask, and that they need to ask is, do these standards fit up to Gods standards?
If a person is unsure, then all they need to do is read the instruction manual, which is the bible. As they are going through God's commands, they need to ask themselves, truthfully, if they have ever broken any of God's laws.

"Well, maybe I broke only a few, but not any of the real bad ones like murder or adultery or anything like that."

You can take a glass of water and filter it a thousand times, then put one drop of arsenic in it and it becomes contaminated, two drops and it becomes lethal, three drops and it is now toxic.
That's the same way we are, we may seem to think that we are ok, but upon reading God's word, these little drops of sin that we commit start to appear right before our eyes, letting us know that we are not as good as we thought we were.

We have all seen those infomercial where they put red die in water, then they put in this miracle cleaner and "Whoose" the water is clean with no trace of the red dye.

Are sins stain us, and there is only one way to get cleansed from those sins, and you can't buy the cure on TV, only through Jesus Christ can we be cleansed of our sins.

  • Isaiah 1:18
  • "Come now, and let us reason together,"
    Says the LORD,
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
    They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
    They shall be as wool.

So save your money and stop trying to buy your way into heaven, and realize that there are never enough good deeds that you can do to earn your way into heaven. Only through Jesus Christ can we enter heaven.

  • John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
