Prov 30:7-9

7 Two things I request of You
(Deprive me not before I die):
8 Remove falsehood and lies far from me;
Give me neither poverty nor riches--
Feed me with the food allotted to me;
9 Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, "Who is the LORD? '
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.

This is one of my favorite Proverbs, because I feel like this so many times.

Give me neither poverty nor riches--
Feed me with the food allotted to me;
Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, "Who is the LORD? '
Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.

I have no desire to be rich, if I were I would fear that I would stop trusting in the Lord and trust in my riches instead. Therefore, I do not ask to be rich.

Lest I be full and deny You,
And say, "Who is the LORD?

I also have a wife and children that I need to take care of. Therefore, I do not want to be poor, because I do not want them to go without and end up doing something against the Lord to try to provide for them.

Or lest I be poor and steal,
And profane the name of my God.

I have had both plenty and nothing at all over the years, but whether there was feasting or famine in my life, the Lord has never left me nor forsaken me.

  • Psalms 9:10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You;
    For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

    Therefore, whatever state you are currently in right now, whether feasting or famine, do not ever forget the Lord and that you can ALWAYS put your trust in HIM!
