5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

Heb 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Incase of emergency: Break glass and pull down on handle.

Fire alarms, we are all familiar with them from our days in school or even at your job.
If a fire breaks out, we know what to do, because even as you were reading the opening sentence, you know exactly what it was talking about.
We are comforted to know that this alarm is around just incase there is an emergency.

But how many times do we treat God like this, knowing that He is around just incase you need Him, but really never really paying attention to God any other time.
But let those times of emergencies come up and we are quick to break open our bibles, and try to pull God down here to help us out.
Even as you read today's devotional verse, if you are not careful you may interpret it just as this, but read it again.

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Notice it doesn't say "ONLY in time of need" meaning we should be before the throne of grace all the time, then when troubles do come up, we are already there seeking the Lord's help.

I don't know about you, but I need the Lord with me all the time, because without Him, my life is nothing, therefore I prefer to be before His throne of grace and mercy continually.
How do you do this? Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace.
Simply by allowing the Lord to be a part of every aspect of your life.
Spend time throughout the day just talking to Him. This is not always easy to do like when you are at work, but you can talk to God in your mind (Yes, God can hear your thoughts).
Spend time in His word everyday so that you can hear Him speaking to you through His word. Don't allow your day to consist of you doing all the talking, but stop and listen to what God has to say.
Find time to minister to others, by doing so you are doing it unto Him. See Matt 25:31-46
Finally, spend time in worship where you are singing out to God for how great He really is.
When we do these things then: we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
