Matt 22:12

"So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless.


"Boy, do I have a few things to tell God when I get to heaven."

"Does God know what He did to my life by allowing that to happen to me? He's going to have to answer for that one, because I want to know why."

"I'll tell God about all the good things I did, then He will have to let me into heaven."

Some pretty bold statements that people make concerning God and what they think they are going to say to Him when they see Him in heaven.
Maybe they should read today's devotional verse, especially the end.

"So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless.

This was a parable that Jesus was speaking about those who will get to heaven and those who think they will.
If you read the parable, it tells of how the friends and those who worked for this king made up excuses for not coming to the wedding. So the king said:

  • Matt 22:8-9 8 "Then he said to his servants, 'The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. 9 'Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.'


    • Those along the highway are people like you and me who never thought that we would be worthy to be called by the King to come to His kingdom. Nevertheless, because of Jesus Christ, the King has summoned us all to the wedding feast in heaven.

    However, that is not the end of the story. You see, one of those servants of the King tried to sneak into the wedding without the proper wedding garment. This wedding garment was given to each of the guests at the wedding showing that they belonged there. But this person had no wedding garment, because he tried to get into the wedding his own way and not through the King.

    "So he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?' And he was speechless.

    So many think that they will tell God a thing or two, but in reality, they will be speechless!
