Psalms 33:9

For He spoke, and it was done;
He commanded, and it stood fast.

Such a small little verse, yet one that packs a big punch.
If you think about it, God created the heavens and the earth, and He did so by speaking it into existence.

Gen 1:3 Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light.

As you will notice during each day of creation, it says, "Then God said"
Check it out in the book of Genesis chapter one.

"So what" you may be thinking "what's the big deal?"
God commanded the earth, the sun, the stars, and the heavens to be and they were. No arguing with God, no excuses for not coming into existence, just obedience to the Master.
One thing this tells me is that I am not God. I know this because as I speak to my little babies (2 years old and 9 months old) they ignore me, as if I am not even there.
But then we must also look at our own obedience to the Lord, and how well we listen to His commands, and follow them.

How many times has the Lord spoken to you, either in His word, or during your prayer time and you made up excuses for not being obedient to Him?
We all have done this, but still that is no excuse for continuing to do so.
God who commanded the mighty waves of the seas.

Job 38:8-11

8 "Or who shut in the sea with doors,
When it burst forth and issued from the womb;
9 When I made the clouds its garment,
And thick darkness its swaddling band;
10 When I fixed My limit for it,
And set bars and doors;
11 When I said,
'This far you may come, but no farther,
And here your proud waves must stop!'

Asks us to do something simple and we refuse to listen to Him.

So next time the Lord tells you to do something and you are thinking of excuses why you can't, think of these next two verses, then say yes to the Lord.

Job 38:3-4

3 Now prepare yourself like a man;
I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?
Tell Me, if you have understanding.
