5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
Romans 10:9
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The final day of our journey on the Romans Road.
Did it seem like we would never make it here today?
The first couple of days being hard to accept, realizing that we are sinners Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are due the penalty if death Romans 6:23a For the wages of sin is death.
Then we saw a light up ahead. Romans 6:23b but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Which we learned is Jesus Christ and decided to continue.
On this day, we also learned that we are given the gift of Jesus Christ who will clean us up and save us from death. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Today at the end of our journey, we receive the prize.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
That prize at the end of this journey is Jesus Christ. However, there is still one more thing you must do to receive the gift, and that is to ask for it.
You do so by believing in Jesus and that He died for your sins and rose from the dead (believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead), but also telling Him you believe so and telling others the same also (that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus).
"I believe but why do I have to confess or tell other about it?"
Sometimes on a journey it seems like those last miles are the hardest and longest, you know you are almost there but the anticipation causes you to get excited as you count down the miles, and even change those miles into minutes wanting to get there now.
Nevertheless, unless you hang in there and complete the journey then you have failed to reach your destination.
You could travel hundreds of miles to get somewhere, but then with only a few miles to go just give up and say that this is just to hard, I am going to turn around and go back home.
I know that sounds foolish, but when you have come this far, why question those last few minutes of what will be an eternity of a new life in Jesus Christ.
Think of Abraham whom God told to leave his country and go to the land that He had promised to him.
Gen 12:2 Now the LORD had said to Abram: "Get out of your country, from your family and from your father's house, to a land that I will show you.2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you and make your name great; and you shall be a blessing.
What if Abraham traveled all those miles, and at the end right before he got to the Promised Land said, "Forget it, this is just no worth it" and turned around and went back home.
Think of the journey that Jesus had made to Calvary and the cross. What if Jesus was beaten, mocked, spit upon, a crown of thrones jammed upon His head and forced to carry His cross in this condition. Then right before they were about to drive the spikes through Jesus' hands and feet He said, "Forget it, these people are just not worth it" and got up and ascended into heaven without dieing for us?
When you start to question why God wants you to do something in a certain way; you are traveling a journey, listening to His word, but then right before the end you question His word and say, "forget it, this is not worth it". Then you end up going back to the same condition from where you began.
Today, stop questioning God and His instructions and just trust that He knows what He is telling you to do and do it.
If you are ready then all you have to do is pray a prayer in faith telling the Lord Jesus that you believe that He died for your sins and rose from the dead and also that you want to turn (Repent) of your sins (believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead). Then go tell someone about it (that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus).
Once you do this, then you have completed the journey. If not, then you have traveled these four or five days, and turned around right before you could complete the journey, and have given up.
