Luke 6:46-49

46 "But why do you call Me 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do the things which I say? 47 "Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: 48 "He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. 49 "But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."


"If you believe that Jesus is alive, why do you live like He's dead?"
These are powerful words spoken by Chuck Smith.

It makes you stop in your tracks and think about what you are doing, and why.
I see so many Christians that are just like the world, so much in fact that you can't tell them apart.
I'm not talking about the way a person dresses, but rather how they live their lives.
So many cuss and curse continually without it even being a second thought.
Christians live together without being married. They listen to the music of the world that glorifies the sins that Jesus died for.
They gamble away their money on the Lotto.
Go out and party on Saturday night, and then stagger into church on Sunday thinking that everything is OK, because they did their weekly duty to the Lord for an hour and a half on Sunday morning.

  • John 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.


    • The bible is very clear how we are to live; and what God says is OK, and what is not.
    Even the world knows that adultery, drunkenness, cursing, partying etc.… is not the way a Christian should live. And it causes the world to look down on Jesus because they see His people just like the world with no real change in their lives.

  • 2 Cor 6:17-18 17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you."18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty."


  • Ex 33:16 "For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who are upon the face of the earth."


    • So what do we do? We live like Jesus is alive. Why? Because He is!

  • Ezra 10:11 "Now therefore, make confession to the LORD God of your fathers, and do His will; separate yourselves from the peoples of the land, and from the pagan wives."


    • It won't be an easy walk because you will be persecuted, but then it was the same for Jesus also. Are we better then Jesus that we don't deserve the same persecution?

  • John 15:18-20 18 "If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 "If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 "Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.
