1 Kings 8:27

"But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built!

So many times we try to put God in a box, or a building like the church.
We think that He is contained in the church and goes nowhere else.
We know He is with us when we pray or read our bibles, but forget that He is still there after we close our bibles or say AMEN.
False religions and cults have their little gods that they carry around in their pockets, put on their dashboards, hang around their necks, and yes there are even statues in their homes.
But who really wants a god that you have to carry around?
Who wants a god that can't get from point A to point B without sitting on your dashboard?
Who wants a god that if the chain breaks loose, and it falls from around your neck, and you loose it, you wig out?
Who wants a god that will fit in your pocket?

The God of the bible is nothing like these false man-made images or gods. Did you notice what it says in today's devotional about our God?

Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You.

The bible also says:

Isaiah 66:1

Thus says the LORD:
"Heaven is My throne,
And earth is My footstool.
Where is the house that you will build Me?
And where is the place of My rest?

So stop putting God in a box, and realize that the earth is His footstool, which means He is too big to be contained in a church building.
Remember how awesome God is and praise Him for it.
Thank God that He carries you and you never have to carry Him around!
