5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

Col 1:9-10

9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;

We as Christians have a desire to share the gospel with others.
The problem is that we get scared, wondering if others would reject us, or the message we bring them.
We wonder if we will say the right words or something stupid.
We wonder if they will have a question that we cant answer.
We wonder what others would think about us if we started sharing the gospel at work or with our friends, and would they now make fun of us?

My pastor said something this morning that rang so true in me that I wanted to share it with you.

"We need to talk to the Lord about others, before we talk to others about the Lord"

That is so true and one of the reasons we fear being a witness.
We will jump in without even seeking the Lord and His counsel before we talk to others.
What we are doing is speaking our own words and not the Lords.

  • Matt 10:19-20 19 "But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; 20 "for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

  • So go ahead and share the gospel with others, but first talk to God about the person(s) you want to tell about Jesus, and ask the Lord to give you the words to speak.
