5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

Num 9:21-22

21 So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22 Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey.

A lot of times in the church, we want to see things happen, and happen now.
So we go through our programs and try to make things happen. But a lot of the times nothing happens, and a program can even fall flat on its face.
The problem is that we are trying to make things happen instead of following the Lord's direction.

"But the Lord wants all to be saved and that's what our program is all about"

That may be true, but are you going about it God's way or your own way.
We offer free food, the latest music group, skits or plays, free stuff, games, rides and anything else we can think of.
But is this really the direction the Lord is leading?
What you are doing; was it done in the New Testament?
So many times we run off doing our own thing, or even just praying once about it, and we figured the Lord didn't tell us no (verbally) so it must be OK.

Think about today's devotional verses and the children of Israel.
Everyday they looked for the Lord for direction and if they where to stay where they were, or if they should move and where to go.
It was a continual thing they did everyday.
This is something we should all be doing.
Our morning should start out seeking the Lord and His direction for each day. Once we get into the habit of doing this, then when we need to make other decisions such as church programs or ministries, then we are used to hearing God speak and we will follow His direction. We also will know when not to go or not do something.

So pray everyday about all things, and if you don't hear a no or yes answer, then try being patient and wait on the Lord.
If you are truly seeking God's will then He will answer when He's ready for you to do something.

Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey.
