Num 9:6-8

6 Now there were certain men who were defiled by a human corpse, so that they could not keep the Passover on that day; and they came before Moses and Aaron that day. 7 And those men said to him, "We became defiled by a human corpse. Why are we kept from presenting the offering of the LORD at its appointed time among the children of Israel?" 8 And Moses said to them, "Stand still, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you."

In this day and age we have fast food, 300 channels on cable and satellite dishes, 24-hour markets, ATM machines, credit cards, instant loans etc.
Basically we are taught that you can have whatever you want right now.
If we have to wait, then we don't want it, or we will go somewhere else, where we can get it right now.
Even as Christians we fall into the same trap of having it now, but did you read what Moses said in verse 8?

And Moses said to them, "Stand still, that I may hear what the LORD will command concerning you."

To stand still means to wait, we don't want to wait on the Lord, and if He doesn't answer our requests right now, then we will find some other way to get what we want.

  • Psalms 27:14 Wait on the LORD;

  • Be of good courage,
    And He shall strengthen your heart;
    Wait, I say, on the LORD!

    We want it now because we think we need it now, but what does God say?
    Have you asked Him?
    Has He answered?
    If not have you decided to take matters into your own hands instead of waiting on Him?

    They say there are three answers to prayer, Yes, No and Wait.

    If you haven't gotten a Yes or No answer, then maybe you need to Wait.
    Be of good courage,
    And He shall strengthen your heart;
    Wait, I say, on the LORD!
