Lev 26:3-4
3 'If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, 4 then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
If you read the rest of Leviticus chapter 26 from verses 3-13, you read of all these cool blessings God has promised to those who obey His commandments and statutes and perform them.
But then if you read from verses 14-45 you will read of what God does if they wont obey Him.
Now you may say that it's not fair because God seems to have more punishments then blessings.
Well if you read the rest of the remaining 30 verses, God says throughout.
Lev 26:21a 'Then, if you walk contrary to Me, and are not willing to obey Me,
Lev 26:23 'And if by these things you are not reformed by Me, but walk contrary to Me,
Lev 26:27 'And after all this, if you do not obey Me, but walk contrary to Me,
Simply put, God warns His people of the consequences of them not obeying and punishes them a little at a time trying to get them to listen and return to Him.
God will do the same with us when we tend to stray away. God wants to shower us with His blessings. But when we are disobedient, He has no other choice then to punish us, not out of anger but love.
Just as a parent doesn't want their children to do wrong and they have to punish them when they do, hopefully so they wont do it again. But if the child does, then the punishment gets more severe with the parent wanting to prevent future hardship for their child.
So don't get angry when you do something wrong and God is trying to get your attention to get you back on the right track. Just listen and obey, the blessings far outweigh the punishment any day!
