Gal 3:2-5 (NLT)
2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law? Of course not, for the Holy Spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ. 3 Have you lost your senses? 4 You have suffered so much for the Good News. Surely it was not in vain, was it? Are you now going to just throw it all away?
5 I ask you again, does God give you the Holy Spirit and work miracles among you because you obey the law of Moses? Of course not! It is because you believe the message you heard about Christ.
It's so good to be a Christian, but sometimes we forget what being a Christian is.
Remember when you first accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior. How happy you were just being a Christian.
Have you lost that joy?
Does it seem like being a Christian is more of a job then a way of life?
These feelings usually come about because we start doing things that we think we should be doing instead of what the Lord asks us to do.
Verse 3 spells it out plainly:
After starting your Christian lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort?
We seem to forget that Jesus died for all our sins and there is nothing more for us to do.
But instead we try and earn God's favor or acceptance by doing things.
We need to get back to our first love, Jesus!
2 Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by keeping the law? Of course not, for the Holy Spirit came upon you only after you believed the message you heard about Christ.
When you accepted Jesus, you knew that you were a sinner and that nothing you could do would get you into heaven, so you turned to the Lord because you knew He is the only way to heaven.
God loves you if you keep the law: just as He loves you because you can't.
And that love, we see in His Son Jesus.
So take your eyes off your ways and put them once again on God's way, JESUS!
