with God

2 Tim 2:23-26 (NLT)

23 Again I say, don't get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. 24 The Lord's servants must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to teach effectively and be patient with difficult people. 25 They should gently teach those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will believe the truth. 26 Then they will come to their senses and escape from the Devil's trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.

When we read verses like today's devotional verses, we tend to think that these are written for our pastors because they speak of teaching others God's word.

But if you look at it closely then you should know that it is speaking to all believers.
Notice it says: The Lord's servants , meaning all Christians.
We are not to get into arguments over God's word, even though some people just want to argue. But rather we are to teach them what God's word says. Also notice something else that God will do and we can't do.
Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will believe the truth.
It's not up to us to change people's hearts; we are just to bring God's word to them. God will do the changing in people's lives not us.
But we tend to try and clean the fish and then catch them.
But reading this scripture, we are to catch them and let the Lord clean them.

So if you haven't, then start reading and studying God's word so you can teach others.
Maybe you are reading and studying God's word, but are you sharing it with others?
Part of my prayer time each morning is for this website and all that come to it. I pray that those who come will not get fat and lazy off of God's word, but use His word and the studies to minister to others.
Are you spiritually fat because you soak up God's word but never do anything with it, or are you a lean running machine because you study God's word and minister to others with it?
