Prov 12:18 (NLT)
Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.
How many times have you said something to someone that you regretted?
You wish you could go back in time and take it all back, but the clock keeps going forward.
Now how many times have you said something to the Lord you have regretted?
We never really think about that until we do it, but then it's too late,
Mal 3:13-15 (NLT) 13 "You have said terrible things about me," says the LORD. "But you say, 'What do you mean? How have we spoken against you?' 14 "You have said, 'What's the use of serving God? What have we gained by obeying his commands or by trying to show the LORD Almighty that we are sorry for our sins? 15 From now on we will say, "Blessed are the arrogant." For those who do evil get rich, and those who dare God to punish them go free of harm.' "
Or is it?
Mal 3:16-18 (NLT) 16 Then those who feared the LORD spoke with each other, and the LORD listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and loved to think about him. 17 "They will be my people," says the LORD Almighty. "On the day when I act, they will be my own special treasure. I will spare them as a father spares an obedient and dutiful child. 18 Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not."
We have all said things in haste to the Lord, but we always have come back with a repentant heart. Or at least you should have.
1 John 2:3-5 (NLT) 3 And how can we be sure that we belong to him? By obeying his commandments. 4 If someone says, "I belong to God," but doesn't obey God's commandments, that person is a liar and does not live in the truth. 5 But those who obey God's word really do love him. That is the way to know whether or not we live in him.
Every person on this the earth has sinned and broken at least one of the 10 commandments; King David, Moses, Abraham, Noah, Paul and me too.
But the difference in these people and the people of the world is repentance. Seeking God's forgiveness for their sin, even when it's against God.
Isaiah 55:7 (NLT) 7 Let the people turn from their wicked deeds. Let them banish from their minds the very thought of doing wrong! Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
If God wants us to forgive others,
Matt 18:21-22 (NKJV) 21 Then Peter came to Him and said, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" 22 Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
Then how much more will He forgive us?
Matt 7:11 (NKJV) "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
So today seek the Lord's forgiveness for something you have said to Him.
He is faithful and just to forgive.
But first you must ask for it!
