with God

Luke 23:34

Then Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do." And they divided His garments and cast lots.

It's time for a really dumb question.
Have you ever gotten angry or upset with God?
Maybe you felt like He let you down, like you asked for bread and He gave you a stone, or a fish and He gave you a serpent.
But soon afterward, or even some time afterwards you realized that you were wrong for getting mad at God.
Maybe you are still mad at God, because He hasn't answered your prayers for help.
You quote scripture saying that He will help you but still no answer.

  • Isaiah 41:13 For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.'

  • Is God mad at you or has God turned His back on you?
The answer is no and no.
Think about it, here in today's devotional verse is Jesus speaking to God from the cross, and asking God to forgive those who are crucifying Him.
But God also allowed Jesus to go through tremendous pain and shame on the cross and the end results was that Jesus was and is glorified.

So how does this apply to you and your situation?
Sometimes we don't understand what God is doing in our lives or why He allows certain things to happen.
We know through scripture that sometimes it's to strengthen us; sometimes it's for our own good or the good of others. Other times we just don't know.

But rest assured that God has not forgotten you nor is He mad at you.

  • Isaiah 49:14-15 14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me."
15 "Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb?
Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.

  • What ever you are going through right now, God is not worried about it because He will not allow you to endure more then you can handle.

  • 1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  • Ask the Lord's forgiveness and He will forgive you even for being angry with Him.
And even though you cannot see a light at the end of the tunnel, stop looking into tunnels and look up into heaven where the real pure light is!

  • Rev 21:22-23 22 But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light.
