James 3:17-18 (NLT)
17 But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. 18 And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.
How many people do you know that seem to be really smart and seem to have all the answers?
It seems whenever a problem comes up at work that they always have the answer.
Now out if these people, how many of them would you confide in when you are have a personal problem?
If you know the one(s) that you would confide in, the next question would be, are they Christians?
You see, it's important for us to confide in other believers, if not then you are not receiving Godly wisdom, but rather worldly wisdom.
So how do you know the difference?
Does making a person a Christian equal Godly wisdom?
Not always, but they best way to find out if the counsel you are getting is from God's wisdom or mans is right here in today's devotional verses.
First it must be pure , meaning there is no cunning or deception involved.
Next it must be peace loving , meaning the results will not cause arguments or strife.
This wisdom will also be gentle and willing to yield to others meaning humbling ourselves and treating others gentle just as you would a child or giving in to others and even admitting your mistake.
Next it must be full of mercy and good deeds . Meaning not repaying someone for the wrong they may have done to you and even helping out that person.
Finally this wisdom will show no partiality and will be sincere . Meaning you are not favoring one person or thing over the other and having the sincerity of Jesus Christ.
The end results to this wisdom would be: And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of goodness.
Meaning out of love you will sow the seeds of peace , even with your enemies, which in turn will reap a harvest of goodness.
In the NKJV it says 18 Now the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
The only way to have peace is with Godly wisdom. That's what will make peace.
