5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
James 1:22
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
If you read these devotionals everyday, you may have noticed that the same verse was taught this past Friday and Monday (II Tim 2:19).
I almost didn't post the one on Monday, even though they used the same verse there was a difference between the two.
It also reminded me of a time when a church was searching for a new pastor. One Sunday this pastor came in and spoke on John 3:16. His message was so powerful that the church voted that day to make him the new pastor of the church.
So the next Sunday he spoke again and it was the same message. This continued on for a month until he was finally asked, "We loved that teaching, but can't you teach on anything else?"
His reply was, "Sure, but only until you start doing what I have been teaching, can we then move on to something else."
You may read through the studies and devotionals here, go to church on Sunday, a bible study during the week and hear all sorts of teachings in God's word. But the question is, are you doing what you learned or just reading and/or listening?
It would be like buying a brand new car, reading the owners manual and never even looking at the car. Day after day, night after night, year after year this brand new car would just sit there. Now you can say you have this new car, and you read the manual, but unless you get behind the wheel, start it up and start driving it, it's of no use to you at all.
It's the same with God's word, you can read it all you want, but until you start living it there will be no excitement and joy of being a Christian.
