John 21:9-12
9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." 11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"--knowing that it was the Lord.
We have all read this part of the story of Jesus, and how the disciples caught 153 fish after fishing all night and catching nothing.
There are many studies on this (and Lord willing, we will also make it to the end of John and study it also).
But there is one thing that we seem to miss here in this story.
Here is Jesus who was beaten and crucified. Hands and feet nailed to the cross, a spear jabbed into His side. This same Jesus who took all the sins of the world to the cross with Him.
Jesus is now glorified completing the work He was sent to do, and what do we find Jesus doing?
The same thing He did while He was here on the earth, serving others.
Did you catch it?
Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast."
Here is the King of kings and Lord of lords who gave His life for us, and what do we see Jesus doing? Cooking breakfast for His disciples.
So the next time you think that you are to good put away chairs, sweep the floor, do the dishes, or any other task which seems to small for someone like you. Remember what Jesus did here, and then go and do likewise, wholeheartedly!
