5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week

with God

Amos 8:11

"Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord GOD, "That I will send a famine on the land, Not a famine of bread, Nor a thirst for water, But of hearing the words of the LORD.

Today there is a famine for God's word?
And the worst part is that it's amongst Christians.
Pastors teach and plead and even beg you to get into the word of God. They come up with every idea to get you into the word, going as far as almost coming to your house everyday and reading it to you themselves.

It's not the pastor's fault that you don't read the bible, and we could blame it on the war that is within us, which is part of the problem. But the truth is we are allowing Satan to win this battle over Christians and he loves every minute of it.

The early church had no problem with this; it says that they searched the scriptures daily.

  • Acts 17:11 These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.

  • I don't think any one told them to read, they just had a hunger for the truth and they found it in God's word.

  • John 5:39 "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.

  • This is Jesus speaking. And if we want to learn about Jesus and how to be like Him we MUST search the scriptures daily.
So, what excuse are you using to keep you from God's word?
Remember that an excuse is the same way as saying "NO" to God.
Pray for this famine to stop, and let it start with you, today!
