5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
1 Cor 12:23-25
23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.
Something we never really think of is the fact that our cars that we drive required many people to put it together. One guy put in the engine, another put on the body another put on the tires and even another put on the headlights.
Now there were a lot more people involved in putting together you car, probably more then you ever imagined, including those who made each individual part and all the little nuts and bolts and screws.
But back to the guy who put on the headlights. He may not feel like his job is that important. After all, it's the guy who put in the engine who has the great job because the engine makes the car move. Or what about the guy who put on the brakes? Without him the car would move but not stop until it hit something. The guy who put on the tires was important also because with no tires the engine and brakes are useless.
But the guy who put on the headlights feels like he is making little contribution to the making of the car.
After all, you don't need headlights to make a car move or stop, so what good is his job?
If you think about it, without the headlights the car would never be able to be driven at night. No going to the store for ice cream on a hot summer night. No going to the park and being able to stay there all-day and driving home with the kids passed out from exhaustion.
No rushing your pregnant wife to the hospital in the middle of the night because your child is about to be born.
Even though the guy who puts on the headlight thinks his job is not that important does not stop the fact that his job is very important.
So it is with us and our gifts of the Holy Spirit. You may not think that your gift is all that great. But without your contribution things just would not happen. Maybe you just give, or pray or set stuff up, to clean up afterwards. No matter how small you think your job or gift is, it's just as important as the guy who put the headlights on your car.
So next time you are driving at night and you flip on those headlights, say a little prayer for that guy who put them on and thank the Lord for his contribution. Then thank the Lord that He has given you a part in His ministry of sharing the gospel.
