Romans 13:9 (NLT)
For the commandments against adultery and murder and stealing and coveting--and any other commandment--are all summed up in this one commandment: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
Here is a tough test for all of us as Christians.
Have you wanted something that someone else has, maybe his or her car or home or job?
Have you ever taken something from someone?
Have you ever lusted after someone, thinking about them a lot even though you and/or they are married?
Have you ever told a lie about someone?
If you have answered yes to one or more of these questions, then you are not loving others as the bible says to.
We as Christians are called to love one another.
John 13:34-35 34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 "By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
When you commit one of these sins mentioned above, not only are you sinning against God, but also you are sinning against your brother or sister in Christ.
We tend to think of loving as not being angry or upset with someone. But loving someone is more then not being angry with him or her. It is also respecting what they have and to desire what someone else has is not respecting that person.
Jesus said to love as He loved us. If Jesus were to answer yes to any of these questions, He would not have really loved us. But we know He didn't do any of these things.
If Jesus didn't do them, why do we think we can and say that we really love others?
