1 Cor 6:9-10
9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
On our local news tonight, they announced that on Wednesday a soap opera will show the first lesbian kiss on TV. Even the news showed part of this kiss (They did warn the audience before they did). This was not a little peck on the check, but rather a full-blown kiss, as you would normally see on soap operas.
The thing was that people were already starting to write into the TV station and complain about it. The station manager was interviewed and said in so many words, that it's not really any different then what the soap operas normally show.
How true this is and this is coming from a man of the world, not a Christian.
Now it's not wrong to oppose such behavior on TV, but if you are then why do you watch the other things that are done and said on TV.
Look at today's devotional verse and write it down. Now go ahead and watch your soap operas and think about how many things mentioned here in these verses are done throughout that hour show.
OK, maybe you don't watch soap operas, but what about just normal TV shows. Could these shows hold up to these verses? How many of these things are committed and spoken of, or even joked about on the normal TV shows you watch?
The Lord says,
2 Cor 6:17a (NLT) Therefore, come out from them and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord.
By sitting there and watching these things day after day you are not separating yourself from these things, but rather your saying that it's ok.
If you have a hard time separating yourself from these things on TV, then get rid of your cable or satellite dish or antenna or even get rid of your TV. We only get one channel on our TV and the other time we watch videos or DVD's. Which is a good thing because then we decide what comes into our home and as we decide, we always try to separate ourselves from these things.
