John 16:2-3

2 "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.


I know we all get tired of hearing about the war in Iraq, but when I read these verses the other day, it reminded me of what's going on over there.

We read and hear of how in the name of Allah, the Iraqi's want to kill and destroy all Americans and anyone else who does not believe like they do.
They think they are doing God a service by doing this.
The problem is, they are serving a false God.

Jesus here is telling His disciples that they will be thrown out of the synagogues and even killed in the name of God. But it wont be in the name of the God of the bible as Jesus explains in verse 3.

So how do we apply this to us right now or what if there wasn't a war going on, how would we apply it?

Sad to say some churches will reject people just because they dress or look different then they do. Some churches have dress codes where the men all wear ties and the woman all wear dresses and if you don't dress properly, they may not ask you to leave, but they make you feel so uncomfortable that you want to leave. They do this all in the name of God.
But if they really studied the bible, they would realize that Jesus choose 12 guys who where not the best dressers nor had the greatest language, (Some where fishermen, sailors) but Jesus didn't choose them because they dressed right, He choose them because He knew that they loved Him and the Father (all except for Judas).

So don't judge by appearance, but rather judge with Godly judgment.
How is that?

  • 1 Sam 16:7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have refused him. For the #LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."


    • In order to do this, you must know God and Jesus!

    And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.
