5 Minutes a day / 5 Days a week
with God
2 Peter 1:13-14
13 Yes, I think it is right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by reminding you, 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ showed me.
I work for a company that caters to people's appearance. OK, it caters to their vanity.
There are so many companies that do this, and you know them by the commercials they have on TV or the ads they have in magazines.
They tell you that you can look better and feel better about yourself if you just buy and use their product.
But the truth is, when people buy and use these products to change their appearance, such as the shape of their body, getting rid of wrinkles etc., they are telling God that He did a bad job when He created him or her.
We tend to forget that God created us all uniquely and each and every one of us God created to look just the way we are without all these product or surgeries to change our appearance.
Maybe you don't like the way you look. Do you realize that you only look at yourself for maybe 5-10 minutes each day in the mirror? Like when you are getting ready for work, or brushing your teeth etc. But God looks at you 24 hours a day, seven days a week non-stop.
Job 34:21 "For His eyes are on the ways of man,
And He sees all his steps.
If God wants to watch you continually, don't you think that He likes what He created? So why change a good thing!
Plus as today's verses speak about the tent, which is referring to this physical body of ours, it's only temporary. So why waste your money on temporary things, like trying to look like the latest movie star or model?
When I met my wife I saw how beautiful she was because of Jesus in her. I was so attracted to her spiritual beauty that I didn't see her physical beauty until later.
The most beautiful men and women I have seen do not have the physical appearance that the world says you should have, but rather they portray Jesus in their lives.
And after all, don't we all want to be like Jesus.
Jesus never died his hair, had His wrinkles removed or altered His body with artificial stuff.
So put on Jesus Christ and spend your efforts trying to look like Jesus on the inside. When you do, others will be drawn to you, not because you are beautiful or handsome like the world says you should be. But rather because they are attacked to the light which is in you, and that light is Jesus Christ.
When it's all over, we will get rid of these lampshades we call bodies anyway!
