Luke 13:6-9

6 He also spoke this parable: "A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. 7 "Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, 'Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?' 8 "But he answered and said to him, 'Sir, let it alone this year also, until I dig around it and fertilize it. 9 'And if it bears fruit, well. But if not, after that you can cut it down.' "

When I read this parable that Jesus told, I noticed one interesting thing. Jesus never said if the tree ever produced fruit after the year.

Maybe the Lord has been paying special attention to you lately wanting to teach you in His word and help you to grow spiritually and start producing fruit.
Maybe He has opened up opportunities for you to attend a bible study or a home group.
Maybe He has lead you here to learn God's word.
Maybe you have to opportunity to serve in the church or even in the mission field.
Maybe things are going tough at home or you lost your job, this is called being pruned, which is also done to help a tree produce fruit.
Maybe your favorite show is no longer on TV. Could it be the Lord wants you to spend that time with Him in His word and in prayer?

There could be lots of ways the Lord is trying to get your attention, because He wants you to produce fruit in your life.
If you start bearing fruit then: "And if it bears fruit, well."

If you refuse to listen then: "But if not, after that you can cut it down."

The choice is yours!
